RWC Committees

In addition to club officers, we have many Chairwomen who manage the various activities and programs the club sponsors.  Each of the Chairwomen is a volunteer and serves for a year.  Current terms expire at the end of 2012, and all active members and associate members are encouraged to volunteer.

If you have any question about a particular Chairwoman’s activities, please contact them directly.

ByLaws: Lynn Falk
The Bylaws Chair is responsible for ensuring that the club adheres to the club bylaws and intercedes when necessary to make sure the club is following procedure and guidelines.  The Bylaws chair is also responsible for reviewing the organization’s bylaws every 2 years and proposing changes when needed.  Proposed changes for a club should be sent to the state federation Bylaws chair for her review and approval. Once approved the club may vote on them.  Bylaws should always state the procedure for their amendment.

Bylaws are the most important rules that an organization can compose for itself.  They are rules of such importance that they cannot be changed without previous notice to the members and a 2/3 vote.  And they cannot be suspended – no matter how large the vote in favor of doing so or how inconvenient the rule in question may be – unless the particular rule specifically provides for its own suspension.

Campaign Activities: Laura Murphy
The role of the Campaign Committee is vital to the club, the state duration and the National Federation.  It is the crucial connection for Republican candidates.  The Campaign Chair(s) are to provide information about Republican candidates at all levels for our club and our community and keep us informed as the political platform changes.

Fundraising / Ways & Means: Georgann Gutteridge
The Fundraising Chair and Committee are essential components for a successful volunteer organization.  To ensure successful special projects and campaign activities, fundraising from other sources is required.  The club’s fundraising should be geared toward motivating individuals to financially support our cause through a variety of creative venues.  The committee is responsible for providing ideas as to how to implement ideas to raise funds for the club at various events.

Historian: Mary Campbell

Hospitality: Janie Lawler-Savitske, Alma Jackson and J’Neane Coffman
The Hospitality Committee is responsible for preparing light snacks for our social which begins a half an hour prior to our scheduled monthly meetings.  They graciously prepare these snacks or ask for assistance in members contributing items for our meetings for our enjoyment.

Legislation: Mary Howard
The Legislative Committee is designed to keep members abreast of legislative news and events on the local, state and national level and follow the progress of a legislative or Congressional session.

Mamie Eisenhower Literacy Program: Anita Lovelace
The RWC participates in the NFRW’s oldest literacy program, celebrating 45 years of book donations from an approved list to schools and libraries. Bookplates are mailed to clubs upon receipt of the list of books to be donated. This enables the committee to track the numbers and names of books being donated by Republican women across the country.

Parliamentarian: Alma Jackson and Janie Lawler-Savitske
The Parliamentarian is primarily responsible for ensuring to provide guidance and adherence to parliamentary procedure.  The Parliamentarian is the club expert in parliamentary procedures, rules, or debate and is well versed in the rules and usages of parliamentarian procedures, club bylaws and Robert’s Rules and intercedes when necessary to make sure the club is following procedure and guidelines.

The Public Relations chair is the public information officer for the organization.  This person/committee builds true rapport and friendship with the news media and community.  This person/committee voices not only the thoughts and opinions of the organization but also of the Republican Party.  The Committee has the key responsibility of keeping the public and our members informed of the club’s participating in Republican activities.

Scholarship Committee: Margaret Baker
