A strong history promoting conservative values

Club History

The Republican Women of Clifton is an active, fun and conservative women's group formed in September 2006. We had a desire to foster conservative values and to support Republican candidates and elected officials in Fairfax County. We began with 12 members our first evening. We've grown to over 90 members from Lorton, Woodbridge, Springfield, Burke, Fairfax Station, CLifton and Centreville just to name a few. Our membership spans a greater distance than Clifton!  Our 2010 membership tea hosted over 100 members and guests. We were THRILLED to host Virginia (Ginni) Thomas as our speaker. She is the founder and President of the organization and wife to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

Our 2009 membership tea yielded a huge turnourt with a notable speaker, Becky Norton Dunlop from the Heritage Foundation.

Our many activities have included a White House tour during the administration of George W. Bush, a luncheon at the historic Gadsby Tavern and the non-historic Macaroni Grill, countless hours of campaign work, volunteering for the Arlington Cemetery's Wreath Across America fundraiser and fieldtrips to DC to protest or meet with our representatives. We've taken to the halls of Congress in the tea parties in 2009 and 2010 and we hope to continue to harangue our officials to follow the Constitution.

We invite all conservative minded women in Clifton, Centreville, Burke, Fairfax Station and all surrounding areas to join us.

Republican Creed

We Believe: That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice,

That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,

That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government,

That the Federal Government must preserve individual liberty by observing Constitutional limitations,

That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense,

That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.

Mission Statement

• To promote an informed public through political education and activity.

• To increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government through active political participation.

• To encourage loyalty to the Republican Party, and to promote its principles and candidates in all elections, including non-partisan elections.

• To support the objectives and policies of the national, state and local Republican Party organization, and to work for the election of the Republican nominees.

• To cooperate with the National and Virginia Federations of Republican Women.

• To promote the principles of freedom, equality and justice upon which the government of this country is founded.

We invite all Republican minded women in the Clifton, Centreville, Burke, Fairfax Station and surrounding areas to join us.

Republican Philosophy

We Believe:

That the right of the individual to achieve the best that is within her, as long as she respects the rights of others, is the source of our nation’s strength.

That government exists to protect the freedom of opportunity in which each individual’s creative ability can flourish.

That government activities should be limited to those things which people cannot do at all, or cannot do so well for themselves.

That the most effective government is government close to the people.

That those who cannot provide for themselves should be assisted by both government and society, but that every effort should be made to help them become self-supporting, productive citizens with pride in their independence.

That equal rights, equal justice, and equal opportunity belong to all, regardless of race, creed, age, sex, or national origin.

That the preservation of our Nation and the security of our citizens depend upon the Constitution, the laws and the courts, and that respect for them is the responsibility of every individual.

That government is accountable for maintaining sound money and a responsible economy.  Individual rights, liberties and properties are continually eroded when citizens are oppressed by excessive taxation, inflation, government waste, and over-regulation.

That government is responsible for national defense and that only a strong America can remain a free America.

That it is absolutely essential to maintain a strong national defense posture in order that we may at all times negotiate from a position of strength, not weakness in our continuing effort towards world peace and friendship.

That these concepts are the foundation of our national strength, and that the Republican Party, which is committed to their preservation, is the Party of today and Party for the Future.

Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth
